Do I Need a Will?

Do I need a will? For almost everyone, the answer is yes. The good news is, it doesn’t have to be complicated – or expensive!

A will basically lays out who will receive your assets when you die. If you don’t have a will, Michigan law decides who will receive your assets – and that may not be to your liking.

For parents, it is especially important to have a will – so you can say who you want to be your children’s’ guardian. And, if you want, your will can delay when your children receive their inheritance - so they don’t receive everything as soon as they turn 18.

A simple will can give you peace of mind – and ensure that your wishes are carried out.
